![]() ![]() We never actually see this prisoner, so it's unclear if this is meant to be a new character debuting in Season 4 or a familiar face. One is that a mystery American character is being held prisoner in this remote military facility. There are two major takeways from the post-credits scene. have generally hinted at a four of five-season plan for Stranger Things, so we may see this Russian subplot truly come into the forefront next time. This may be a hint as to the show's endgame. This scene serves as a reminder that while the lab hidden beneath Starcourt Mall has been taken down, the larger Soviet conspiracy is still very much alive and active. The season comes full circle as the setting shifts back to Russia and the ongoing Soviet experiments with the Upside Down. Season 3's post-credits scene offers plenty of food for thought as the wait for Season 4 begins. What Happened in the Stranger Things 3 Post-Credits Scene? Much like Mike, we're pretty confident she'll be juiced up again the next time danger comes knocking, although it would be interesting to see how the kids dealt with a threat if they didn't have El's powers as a get out of jail free card next season. That seems like it'll be a major problem next time the threat of the Upside Down begins bleeding into the real world - but remember, much like a battery, her powers were also drained at the end of last season after she managed to close the gate, but they came back eventually. Did Eleven Lose Her Powers?Īlso significant is the reveal that El has lost her powers following the final battle with the Mind Flayer. But it is likely their absence from Hawkins will play a big role in the plot next time. would manage a season without the two young characters most intrinsically tied to the Upside Down. We doubt this means Joyce, El, Will and Jonathan won't be in Season 4. We saw how the creation of Starcourt Mall negatively impacted the town's economy, with local businesses failing and Joyce's landlord forced to sell the house due to rising property taxes. This twist was foreshadowed at multiple points earlier in the season. That includes El, who appears to have been adopted by Joyce following Hopper's death. In another bittersweet coda to the season, Joyce and her family pack up and move away from Hawkins. And sadly, it looks as though our heroes will continue to be separated after Season 3 wraps up. ![]() Season 3 is notable for almost never featuring the entire main crew together in one place, with Dustin spending most of his time investigating the mystery of Starcourt Mall with Steve, Robin, and Erica, while the rest of the gang deal with their own problems. Click here for our theory on what might have actually happened following the destruction of the gateway. Good thing Hopper inadvertently managed to leave behind an encouraging farewell letter to El before his death.ĭespite this heroic sacrifice, it's not entirely clear if Hopper is truly dead. ![]() Season 3 ends on a tragic note, as Joyce is forced to sacrifice Hopper in order to shut down the Russian machine and close the gateway to the Upside Down to stop the Mind Flayer. While the Mind Flayer's tie to Hawkins might be severed (for now), it's probably only a matter of time before some other fool, whether in America or Russia, reopens the connection between the two worlds and allows the Mind Flayer to regain its footing and attempt another attack. Driscoll and the other lost inhabitants of Hawkins, that was just another extension of the Mind Flayer in our world, not the Big Bad itself. ![]() Unfortunately the same can't be said for the Mind Flayer - although Joyce closing the gate to the Upside Down seemed to deactivate the gross goopy monster that was created from poor Mrs. (And to be fair, if the tentacle attack didn't kill him, all of that bleach-chugging would probably have destroyed his internal organs once the Mind Flayer stopped possessing him anyway - hence why he's coughing up black goo rather than blood.) The troubled teen gets one final act of redemption and goes out a hero in the eyes of his little sister Max, but this definitely looks like the end of Dacre Montgomery on the show. When he falls to the ground, he's definitely dead. He throws himself in front of Eleven to block the monster's tentacles, but ends up being impaled by them - with one going right through his chest, presumably to his heart. The climax of the Season 3 finale sees Billy battling against our heroes while possessed by the Mind Flayer, but thanks to the efforts of Eleven, he manages to overcome the monster's hold on his mind in time for a heroic sacrifice to protect El and the others. Read on for a breakdown of Season 3's ending and what it may mean for the inevitable Stranger Things: Season 4. ![]()
